Welcome To The Projects For Asia Blog

We welcome you to our blog concerning current events within Projects for Asia.  We encourage you to pray for our projects and to be a part of our work in this way.  Hopefully, you will write to us with encouragement and share with us any words the Lord has placed upon your hearts  concerning our postings  “Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land.” (Pro 25:25)  We feel this blog will be an important tool to help keep you informed of what is happening NOW on the various PFA mission fields as opposed to a newsletter that tells you what has already happened.  Let us rejoice in the Lord forever for the wonderful things He has done!

Big Eyes, Big Smiles, and Big Hearts

March 19th, 2012

The team spent seven days at the beautiful Hope of Glory Children’s home.  We played and ministered to the 50 children living on the campus.  The beautiful children were a joy to get to know.  Their big beautiful eyes and bright smiles made us so happy every day.  The Hope House children loved playing with the Indian children.  Language barriers did not seem to dampen the great fun and laughter.  We painted dormitory rooms, played games, did arts and crafts, held evening performances, and had a great time together.  We hated to leave them behind when we left forour return trip to Visak.

Village # 2

March 19th, 2012

On another beautiful day we made our second trip to an interior village.  After 2 1/2 hours of driving by jeep through the mountains,, we arrived at our destination.  We entered a tiny church and joined in with the villagers to praise the Lord.  After a wonderful service, we were treated to  lunch served on a banana leaf.  The Hope House children rode most of the way on top of  the jeeps to get a bird’s eye view of the beautiful Araku Valley mountains.

While we were at Village #2, we heard the testimony of one village pastor.  His father was the chief of a near-by village which, until 1990, performed yearly sacrifices of one cow, one pig, and one human.  We saw the alter where these sacrifices were made under a huge tree.  Previously, the alter’s location was hidden and the people were kidnapped from near-by villages for the sacrifice.  After 1990, the Gospel came to this village and the chief became a Christian.  It was inspiring to hear the live accounts of the power of God to change lives of people so dramatically.

Village Outreach #1

March 19th, 2012

Two jeeps, 14 people, and 2 hours later, we arrived in a village off the beaten path. Pastor Joseph has served faithfully in this village for 24 years.  He was first called to the village to combat serious witchcraft.  Now the village is almost totally Christian.  Our children sang, danced and gave their testimony to the Glory of God.  It was a wonderful day.

A little paint goes a long way…

March 19th, 2012

One way to help the Sunshine Free School was to help spruce up their school.  The building is an old, run down building.  The team went in painted pictures on the walls to add color and life to the drab rooms.  The Sunshine kids were very excited and were amazed how we projected the images to make them bigger and loved to watch each step as we brought the images to life.  They were very eager to help trace and paint.

Sunshine Free School

March 19th, 2012

The Sunshine Free School is located in a big slum area of Visak.  This school provides free education to the children that can not afford to go to school.   The Sunshine free School is Christian based, which the parents do not mind since their children are getting a free, English based education.  30 families so far have become Christians.   The school is a beacon of light into the slums

The Sunshine kids performed skits, songs, and dances for us.  In return, the was able to get the kids jumping around with action songs, performed 2 dramas, and a dance.  Afterwards, we went to each classroom and gave each child their little presents.  (a pencil, ruler and eraser set)
